Lokpal Bill: Activist Agnivesh sure it will be passed

Gadhian Anna Hazare continues his fast against corruption on the third day. No consensus seems to be reached between the centre and the state yet. In fact Anna has rejected Sonia Gandhi's appeal to end fast asking the government to pass Lokpal law soon.
Activists, however, are hopeful that the notification would indeed by signed by the e government on Friday. Fighting for the cause, activist Swami Agnivesh said, "We have achieved a breakthrough. The Congress-led UPA government has assured a joint committee will be notified to draft the Lokpal Bill which will be taken to the Cabinet. This will then be debated in Parliament in the monsoon session."

GR Gopinath chairman and managing director of Deccan 360 said, "It is for a systemic change. It is exactly on the lines of why we gave ourselves a judiciary, a defence force, police. We know that we are going to be tempted, going to err, make mistakes, be corrupt. I don’t think that it should be taken as a rebellion against the government or the Congress because all parties are guilty."
Though Mohandas Pai Infosys’ HR director stands for the cause, he remains pessimistic. "I don't think anything will happen," he said. "Only way we can remove corruption from this country is to ensure that corrupt people are punished. For that the courts have to work. Our courts are overburdened, we don't have enough courts or judges; we are not investing in the court system. As a result cases take too long and there is no way then that the corrupt
