6 held for recruitment scam in cluster buses
NEW DELHI: The crime branch has unearthed a recruitment scam involving drivers and conductors of cluster buses under Delhi Integrated Multi Modal Transport System (DIMTS). A driver's post was sold for Rs 40,000, while a conductor's post was being offered for Rs 75,000-80,000.
Two directors of MBAS Services—the company which got a contract from Ponty Chadha's brother Harpreet Chadha's company—along with the assistant HR manager of a company which was given the contract directly by DIMTS and two DTC conductors have been arrested. One Amarjit was also nabbed.
"They have supplied more than 200 drivers for cluster buses. Most of them do not have a valid driver's badge and were recruited on the basis of fake licences. They have supplied 85 conductors, of which 40 have been recruited through fake conductor's licences/badges and first-aid certificates," said Ravindra Yadav, addl CP (crime). He said they have registered a case under sections of criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery.
The directors have been identified as Pradeep Kumar Duhoon (30) and Devender Singh, while the HR manager is Sanjay Dahiya. The DTC conductors are Chander (20) and Devi Charan.
The men were arrested by the special operations squad after a tip-off. To cops posed as customers while another constable acted as a shadow witness. "The directors demanded Rs 70,000 for a conductor's post and Rs 40,000 for a driver's post. The constables paid Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 each to Duhoon as advance. Devender handed a fake conductor licence, driving licence and first-aid certificate to the constables, after which the duo was arrested," said DCP (crime) Kumar Gyanesh.
Devender said he had worked as a cluster bus driver. He later met Pradeep, who drove a DTC bus till 2012. They registered a company called MBAS Services and became its directors, Gyanesh added.
They contacted AB Grain Spirits, which supplied drivers for cluster buses. As subcontractors to AB Grain Spirts (P) Ltd, they started supplying drivers to DIMTS for 7% commission of the drivers' total salary.
They started flouting procedures. Sanjay Dahiya connived with the accused. Cops are examining if other officials were also involved. The accused said they got fake documents through Chander, Devi Charan, Amarjeet, Chanda and Sonu. Chanda and Sonu are on the run.
